OVERVIEW

The city that invented the idea of a "trip"

Paris rewards slow travel more than almost any capital in Europe. Its neighborhoods each hold a distinct rhythm — the Marais's narrow medieval streets, Saint-Germain's café culture, Belleville's street art and immigrant food scenes — so the best trips mix one or two major landmarks a day with long, unhurried walks. Museums here are genuinely world-class, but the city's real texture is in its markets, its parks at golden hour, and the ordinary ritual of a coffee taken standing at a zinc bar.
